Having worked with London North Eastern Railway (LNER) on multiple design and print projects since 2019, we were delighted when they approached us to assist them with the production of their new charity cookbook; Cooking for CALM.
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is LNER’s charity partner, they lead a movement against suicide, providing support to many people across the UK, and the cookbook has been created to raise vital funds to help them to continue their hard work.
With a price point of £16.99 it was important that the production and print specification reflected a quality publication, whilst still being mindful of costs to ensure the charity benefited as much as possible from each sale. It also needed to be practical for use by the home cook, so the cover was gloss laminated to aid durability and the inner pages printed on a silk paper to enable it to be wipeable.
A smaller print run was initially produced to meet an upcoming deadline and to start to test the market, following on from the success of this a larger quantity was produced for the launch and roll out on LNER’s online shop.
It’s been a great project to be involved with and whilst we’ve only played a small part it’s fantastic to help raise money for a charity like CALM, whose work is so critical to so many people”
The book itself features over one hundred original recipes developed by colleagues and communities along the LNER route, from pulled chicken tacos to a Biscoff sundae there is something for everyone to enjoy whilst knowing you have supported a very worthy charity.
